Getting the right gun holster is important because you want your gun to fit perfectly inside it. You don’t want it to be too tight, but you also don’t want it loose either. Your gun needs to be snug so it is secure, but if it’s too snug, then you can’t draw it correctly and this could be a safety hazard. Having to jerk or draw your gun with force could easily cause a misfire, and that is how people get hurt.

Something you want to keep in mind, though, is that leather gun holsters tend to stretch a little after you wear them and break them in. So if your leather gun holster seems just a little too tight around the gun when you first stick it in there, give it a little time to break in because the leather will soften and stretch.

A good way to break all western gun holsters in is to take your gun, make sure it’s unloaded, and hold it by the grip and stick it into the holster repeatedly. This will cause the leather to break down and start forming to the gun itself. Be sure that you are holding all of the safety straps while you do this so that you are in complete control of both the gun and the holster.
